Toolmaker - Experienced

A Day in the Life:
• Interpret engineering drawings, die designs, and GD&T with expert precision
• Safely operate manual machines (knee mill, surface grinder, lathe, drill press) at a master level
• Lead new progressive die assembly—including grinding, polishing, aligning, timing, and verifying clearances
• Conduct progressive die tryouts/debugging at the punch press and make necessary adjustments
• Manufacture simple die components that do not require CNC or Wire EDM
• Build and assemble advanced tooling such as blanking tools, brake tools, and fixtures
• Develop and refine flat blank geometry for formed parts
• Repair, sharpen, and maintain dies; dismantle and reassemble components with high accuracy
• Inspect tooling and parts using micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments
• Shape, smooth, and finish die components for exact part geometry
• Review tooling and recommend design improvements for performance and longevity
• Mentor and support Tool and Die Maker I and II team members
• Follow all safety and compliance procedures
• Collaborate with supervisors and designers; document changes and improvements
• Perform other related duties as assigned
You’re a Great Fit If You:
• Have strong mechanical aptitude and advanced hands-on machining experience
• Are highly skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and GD&T
• Are proficient with precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
• Have strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities related to dimensions and tolerances
• Communicate clearly and work effectively within a team
• Demonstrate excellent manual dexterity, detail orientation, and a commitment to quality
• Prioritize safety and follow established procedures
Preferred Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in tool & die making preferred
• 5+ years of experience in tool & die making with strong manufacturing background
• Familiarity with CAD software for die design or modification
• Experience with manual machining, advanced die assembly, inspection, and troubleshooting
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently during shifts
• Regularly lift up to 25 lbs (occasionally up to 50 lbs)
• Strong vision, dexterity, and focus for detailed precision work
• Physical and mental stamina to perform repetitive tasks safely and effectively
